アメリカのカレッジボードによって運営されているAPプログラムは、高校にいながら大学レベルの高度な教育を受講できる制度で、APテストにより大学レベルの単位取得ができます。AP履修のクラスが用意されている高校があるほか、テストに関してはAPクラスのない高校や、ホームスクールの人も受験できます。大学進学の際にAPテストの結果を提出することができます。アカデメイトでは、APプログラムの概要をカバーし、APテストをテクニカルに解く方法を教えます。

AP Calculus AB is the first Calculus course prescribed in the Advanced Placement
Program developed by the College Board. It is a rigorous course for college-bound students. It draws upon the concepts and skills from previous Math courses, especially Precalculus, and imparts skills that will be invaluable in the technical fields.


Course Description

Our curriculum covers all of the material outlined by the College Board as necessary to prepare students for the AP Calculus AB exam. This course is designed to acquaint students with:

  • Calculus principles;
  • the connections among Functions, represented in a variety of ways;
  • Derivatives, in terms of rate of change and local linear approximation;
  • Definite Integrals (both as a limit of Riemann sums and as the net accumulation of change);
  • use of Derivatives and Integrals to solve a variety of problems;
  • the relationship between the Derivative and the Definite Integral as expressed in both parts of the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus.


How does it help?

Emphasis is given to understanding and problem solving, using a Graphing Calculator to free up time to examine ideas in more detail, to gain experience in the use of Calculus methods, and to learn how Calculus methods may be used in practical applications. With tests and homework compiled from the past AP Exam, students become experts in making accurate and clear responses.


Students are encouraged to learn the correct terminology emphasized in the texts, and are required to explain their results in class and to provide verbal justifications of their answers. Also, they are taught to use complete, grammatically correct sentences in their explanations rather than short expressions, thus preparing them to meet all requirements for Free-Response questions. On an almost daily basis, problems are assigned which not only finely hone calculation skills, but also review many of the key content ideas from Calculus.

AP Calculus BC reviews and extends concepts from AP Calculus AB using a curriculum considerably more extensive than AP Calculus AB. Students must have a strong Mathematics foundation and should be able to make the important connections among the concepts learned. Since the BC exam covers more material than the AB test, it often offers students higher course placement, more course credit, and greater chance of acceptance at colleges with rigorous Math programs.


Our course covers an extensive study of functions, graphs, limits, derivatives, definite integrals, polynomial approximations and series, and their various applications. Vectors, polar graphs and parametric equations are included in developing the concepts. We emphasize a multi-representational approach to problem solving and focus on developing students’ understanding of Calculus concepts. The course provides experiences in theory, fundamentals, and applications.

AP Physics B is a college-level course that provides a systematic introduction to the main principles of Physics. It emphasizes the development of conceptual understanding and problem-solving ability, using Algebra and Trigonometry. It provides a foundation in Physics for more advanced work in the life sciences, pre-medicine, and other applied sciences, as well as for studies in other college programs that have science requirements.

 

Our course helps the students to develop a deep understanding of Physics concepts and builds on the conceptual understanding they attain. We emphasize intuitive understanding of the principles of Physics, experimental investigation, and creativity. We use open-ended questions in order to assess students’ ability to explain their understanding of concepts.

 

We help the students with using basic mathematical reasoning to illuminate a physical situation, interpreting physical information, describing and explaining the sequence of steps in the analysis of a particular physical phenomenon etc. Our course also includes tips on laboratory-related questions for designing experiments, analyzing data, displaying data in graphical or tabular form, analyzing errors, communicating results, and drawing inferences and conclusions from experimental data.

AP Physics C is a Calculus-based, college-level Physics course that covers two major areas: mechanics; and electricity and magnetism, with equal emphasis on both. This course serves as the foundation in Physics for students majoring in the physical sciences or engineering. Although fewer topics are covered in Physics C than in Physics B, it is more intensive and analytic. In Physics C, topics (including calculus applications) are covered in greater depth.

 

Our course provides a systematic introduction to the main principles of Physics and emphasizes the development of conceptual understanding and problem-solving ability. It will help the students to:

Statistics has the astonishing power to improve decision-making accuracy, to test new ideas, and to form the mathematical basis for quality control. It is a key analytical tool used in education, the social sciences, and business administration, and is often a required subject for many college majors.

 

AP Statistics introduces students to the major concepts and tools for collecting, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data. We expose our students to four broad conceptual themes, with appropriate emphasis given to each. This helps students to master the concepts and techniques of the subject matter of the course of Statistics and equips them to communicate methods, results, and interpretations using the vocabulary of Statistics.

 

We encourage our students to familiarize themselves with the form and notation of formulas. Furthermore, we expose them to multiple-choice questions, open-ended free-response questions, and investigative tasks involving more extended reasoning.
